Welcome to Spork and Foon Press!

What is Spork and Foon Press, you ask? We are a funky independent vegan-powered press based in Vancouver. Inspired by the likes of Stolen Sharpie Revolution, Microcosm Publishing, Broken Pencil, and our love of food and zines, we thought we should put our geeky talents to good use and do something to make a bit of a difference in our little plot of the world.

Our mandate is to produce our print and Web publications without any corporate advertising, without making a profit, and by using 100% post-consumer recycled resources as often as we can get our mitts on them. We hope to put the fruits of our labours into the hands of the people and the animals who need our help the most.

Slated for publication in early 2010, our first print publication will be a vegan cookzine featuring more than 40 recipes inspired by our memories of food we loved while growing up, our families, our friends, and our numerous vices. From breakfast to late night munchies, we hope offerings such as Grandma Betty’s Hotel Special, savoury fried Cantonese turnip cakes, Melty Burgers, and Mum’s Stuffed Potatoes will get you just as excited as we do about indulging in delicious vegan food.

And, to pay it forward, our goal with this first zine is to match 100% of all proceeds raised and donate those proceeds to Rest.Q Animal Sanctuary on Mayne Island, B.C., and Hearts on Noses Mini Pig Sanctuary in Maple Ridge, B.C.

For now, head on over and have a look at our first Web project, The Vegan Spoon.
